Unlocking the RAREST Skin in FORTNITE
There are so many skins in Fortnite that are rare and difficult to get. Some of them are even available for a limited period and players usually fail to buy them. Rarest stands for ‘Original Gangster’ skin in Fortnite. There are few skins in Fortnite that are hardly owned by less than a thousand people making it one of the rarest Rarest skin in Fortnite.
Fortnite might be a free-to-play title, but that doesn't stop players from spending lots of money on in-game cosmetics. Skins and accessories are popular ways for players to show off their personal flair and style during a match. A select few of Fortnite's hundreds of skins are either rare or come at a steep price. Many of these skins were cross-promotional exclusives, were listed on the Epic Games store for only a short while, or were unpopular during their release and were not listed again.
Cosmetics have become a major part of Fortnite: Battle Royale. In a third-person game like Fortnite, looks matter. Just like in real life, people want to stand out and show off their style.
Unfortunately, this kind of creativity is not possible without skins. Skins are the foundation of Fortnite cosmetics. Sure, there’s pickaxes, gliders, emotes, and backblings, but skins are the main outfit you're in-game character wears.
Skins can be quite pricey. A single Legendary skin can run upwards of £16/$20. Not everyone’s in a position where they can spend money on these optional cosmetics. But thankfully, there are ways to acquire skins without spending any money. There are tons of methods to earn Fortnite skins entirely for free.
Let’s go over all of the possible ways to obtain Fortnite skins without spending a single penny.
FREE FORTNITE SKINS - SEASONAL EVENTS
Fortnite’s Seasonal Events are a great opportunity to acquire free cosmetics and skins. Fortnite typically holds a special event every holiday. Holidays such as Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas all get their own limited-time events. These events usually offer the chance to complete unique challenges and the like in exchange for exclusive seasonal cosmetics.
For example, during Winterfest 2019, players could enter the Winterfest Lodge. Here, they could open a new present every day for 14 days leading up to Christmas. These presents included gliders, pickaxes, and of course, free skins. Participating players received the Wooly Warrior skin and the Lt. Evergreen skin completely for free. The gift of giving was in full swing during this generous holiday event.
Keep an eye out for future Seasonal Events to get your hands on some more of these limited-time free skins.
FREE FORTNITE SKINS -TWITCH PRIME
Twitch Prime offers players a chance to claim free skins from time to time. Connecting an Amazon Prime account with Twitch and then linking it to your Epic Games account will allow you to claim all kinds of free cosmetics in a variety of different games, including Fortnite.
Havoc, Sub Commander, Trailblazer, and a bunch of additional cosmetics were all free rewards gifted to Fortnite players with a Twitch Prime account.
Almost everyone uses Amazon these days. If you have Amazon Prime, make sure to connect it with your Twitch and Fortnite account to earn all of the accompanying free cosmetics.
FREE FORTNITE SKINS - ONLINE TOURNAMENTS
Participating in online competitive Fortnite events is an awesome opportunity to win free skins. Fortnite hosts open tournaments daily that players can enter as a way to scratch their competitive itch and potentially win prizes. Rewards for these tournaments often include early access to new skins — for free.
Venom, Daredevil, Black Widow, Ghost Rider, Galaxy Scout, and much more were all available for free through participation in these special tournaments. Players that placed within a certain threshold in the standings received these skins for free as a reward.
Sometimes you don't even need to be a very skilled player to win these free skins. For example, the #FreeFortnite Cup awarded winners with the Tart Tycoon skin for free. This Cup wasn’t judged purely on eliminations or placement. Players earned points just by walking around the island and eating Apples.
Finally, there’s been other events in the past where all players had to do to earn the free skin was to participate. Their final results were irrelevant.
These Fortnite Cups are a great opportunity to earn cosmetics for free — regardless of a players’ personal sweat level.
FREE FORTNITE SKINS - CONTESTS
Occasionally, Fortnite will hold open contests available to anyone in the community. The most famous of these contests was probably the #boogiedown Contest.
Players were asked to record themselves dancing and submit the video through Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. Dances were judged based on the criteria of fun, originality, and creativity. The ultimate winner of the event would have their dance turned into an in-game emote. This is how the legendary Orange Justice emote made it into the game.
However, there were additional rewards. The top 100 submissions all received the Funk Ops and Sparkle Specialist skins for free.
These contests are somewhat rare, but they offer yet another opportunity for players to obtain in-game cosmetics for free. Who knows, a simple dance video could earn you a couple of free skins.
There’s no longer an excuse to be a no-skin. Fortnite offers a plethora of ways to earn skins entirely for free. Fortnite awards free skins through Seasonal Events, Twitch Prime, online tournaments, and contests. Be on the lookout for future events and promotions — you may just walk away with a free skin.

The best Fortnite skins, and how to get them
Let’s kick things off with one of the most popular heroes of all time: None other than Batman. This skin was first available in 2019 during chapter 1, season 10, and was buyable through the Fortnite Item Shop. If you purchased the Batman Caped Crusader Pack Bundle, you got a Batwing glider, the Christopher Nolan Batman skin, a set of capes, and a fancy pickax to complete the set. It’s not available anymore, sadly, but it’s possible we’ll see it again sometime.
To honor the Marvel franchise, as well as the tragic passing of actor Chadwick Boseman, Fortnite featured the Black Panther skin earlier in chapter 2, season 5. The skin, along with a slew of extra goodies, were available through the Item Shop but have since been delisted — though the skin did make a brief appearance for a couple of days after originally being added as part of the Royalty and Warriors packs.
This skin is fascinating because it’s based on a real-life Fortnite player. Modeled after Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf, you can currently buy the skin from the item shop for 1,500 V-bucks. Or, you can get the Bugha Bundle, which comes with an emote and harvesting tool for 1,800 V-bucks. This is one that will likely reappear in the store if you miss it, as cosmetics in the item shop are known for coming back every now and again.
First making an appearance during Fortnite chapter 2, season 3, Captain America was buyable from the Item Shop for 2,000 V-bucks. This famous Marvel character has made frequent appearances in the Item Shop after being initially delisted — showing up as recently as March 8, 2022. Considering the popularity of this character, it’s highly likely Captain America will reappear in the Item Shop in a few months — perhaps later this summer.
If you want to creep other players out, then this is the best Fortnite skin to do it with. Going toe to toe with a giant wily nutcracker is definitely fuel for nightmares, but once you get past his off-putting appearance, it’s actually kind of hilarious. This legendary skin was exclusive to the 2018 holiday event for around 2,000 V-bucks. It has since been removed from the item shop, though it sometimes pops up during seasonal events.
Upon its initial release, it was possible to earn the Daredevil skin for free by placing within a certain ranking during a tournament during chapter 2, season 4. After that, Daredevil was implemented into the Item Shop and could be purchased for 1,500 V-bucks. It has since been delisted, but like many Marvel characters, it has reappeared within the Item Shop as recently as March 8. It will likely show up once again, perhaps later this spring.
The Walking Dead ‘s Daryl Dixon skin was first added to the Fortnite Item Shop in December. You could purchase it for 1,800 V-bucks, as well as the Michonne skin, as part of the Survivors in Arms set. It’s no longer available to buy, and unlike some of the other skins on this list, it hasn’t made a reappearance in the Item Shop, so there’s no way to know if you’ll have another chance to get it.
As one of the most popular Fortnite skins, you probably have seen lots of players using the Deadpool outfit. It was available as part of the chapter 2, season 2 battle pass, and is no longer obtainable. At the time, you could earn this skin without having to buy it from the Item Shop, but since season 2 has concluded, there’s no telling if you’ll be able to get your hands on the Deadpool outfit again. There have been other Deadpool-related items added to the Item Shop afterward, like the Cuddlepool and Ravenpool skins.
Doctor Slone is, simply put, one of the best Fortnite characters ever created — not just due to her importance in the storyline, but also because she’s featured prominently as a Black woman leading the charge this season. To unlock her, you must buy the chapter 2, season 7 battle pass, purchase all the items on page eight, and then use nine stars to purchase Doctor Slone. It’s a bit of a long process, but if you’ve been playing regularly throughout chapter 2, season 7, you should have enough currency to unlock her.
The Galaxy skin is one of the most sought-after and controversial skins ever and for a good reason. As we covered in our guide on how to unlock it, this cosmetic was only available to players who purchased a Samsung Galaxy S6 phone or S4 tablet. This didn’t stop players from showing up to stores that had demo phones and tablets that they would use to nab this cool galactic outfit. After all, this skin is truly out of this world.
Similar to Daredevil, you could have earned the Ghost Rider skin by placing within a certain ranking during a Fortnite tournament in 2020, granting you access to the skin for free. Following the conclusion of the tournament, Ghost Rider has been added to the Item Shop multiple times, where you could buy the skin for 1,5000 V-bucks. In fact, the skin was available as recently as March 9, 2022, and will likely reappear later this summer.
